The seniors  Bain Allen, Carter Combs, Tate Fishman, Shane Gladysz, and Julian Mackey played as a unit for the entire first quarter leaving  the Firebirds with a 17-9 advantage. They also all returned to finish the game as a unit in the closing minutes of the game as requested by an animated and vocal student section. Tate Fishman scored the opening basket of the contest shortly after he sang the pre-game national anthem. That initial bucket gave West a lead they never relinquished.  All five seniors contributed points to the scoring column led by Julian Mackey with 13.

The opening senior day line-up featured  seniors Stella Lukusa (6′ 0″), Kyle Zurlinden, (6′ 1″) and Neveah Dean (6′ 2″).  They were joined by Kailyn Dudukovich (6′ 0″) amd Chance Gray (5′ 10) setting the average height of the Firebird starting lineup to over six  feet tall.  The  Firebirds ran out to a 20 pt. first quarter lead and then raised the margin up to 32 points (42-10) before intermission.  West clinches this years outright GMC championship, and their sixth consecutive GMC title. Kailyn Dudukovich, a junior, joined in the fun with 21 points to lead all scorers.
