This game was close all the way. West took the lead, 7-0, with 36 seconds remaining in the first quarter, led by a single point at the halftime break (7-6) and never led by more than eight. David Afari rushed for a game-high 183 yards which yielded two TD runs, one of 55 yards and one of 5 yards, both followed by Josh Laine extra-point kicks. The defensive unit was on the field for 29 minutes and held the Comets to a single touchdown and six points. Thirteen Firebird players were credited with tackles led by defensive back Truman Mason who had 7 (6 solos, 1 assist).
